After Hurricane Ivan, September 2004, Florida Building Codes require that all windows and doors in certain windborne areas be impact resistant or have shutters of some type. Impact Resistant Windows are very expensive and the outside pane can break just as a regular window. If that happens, the window must be replaced.
Shutters are great, but have to be installed before the storm arrives; Bay Aluminum and Screen mainly uses Steel Corrugated Shutters.
